After more than 6 months of working from home, Covid fatigue has set in for many.
It's not over yet though so take a few minutes to make sure these 4 winning WFH wellness strategies are part of your mindset for success.
1. Create your high performance environment
Many people have mentioned to us that when they set themselves up for working at home, they thought it would be a temporary situation.
If this was the case for you, and you haven't changed your set up since, make sure you review your working environment sooner rather than later. WFH isn't going anywhere for a while and a working environment that compromises your body position and your mood will damage your energy, effectiveness and creativity.
Taking a short time to set up an appropriate desk and seating (or standing) arrangement, tidy up the surrounding area and make your workspace more appealing will pay dividends every day.
2. Lead by example and inspire others
Once you’re set up appropriately, become an online meeting role model.
Sit or stand with good posture. You’ll feel better and you’ll notice others correcting their position regularly
Periodically sip water to boost energy and you’ll see others follow your lead
Stretch every now and again to release tension and others will copy
You might spend time with hundreds of people online across each week and if you help them all feel more energetic and focused, that’s a huge advantage for everyone.
3. Be your best self before you need to
It’s been a demanding few months and we’ve notice that those who are coping really well are the ones who protect a little time each day and week to plan their healthy living priorities.
Make sure you choose to be proactive and get yourself in tip tip shape before you feel overwhelmed and feel that you need to take action. If you're one step ahead with wellbeing habits you’ll find it much easier to cope with whatever life throws at you.
Make healthy living a priority, not an afterthought.
4. Be curious
Work is different, life is different and sometimes it feels as though every day is different so you might need some different healthy living habits than those that have worked for you in the past.
For example, if you’re on your laptop most of the day, good posture is crucial so a few tips from Pilates will help get you upright. Some yoga stretches throughout the day will ease tension from your body. Regular mindfulness practice will help you breath and focus.
Splitting longer exercise sessions into mini or even micro workouts will keep you physically and mentally energised. Working from home could give you a little time to prepare new meals and snacks designed to keep you focused during the day and help you sleep at night.
The more you experiment with a variety of wellbeing solutions, the quicker you’ll arrive at the healthy habits that ensure you feel at your best and perform with energy and enthusiasm every day.
