At the risk of stating the blindingly obvious, there’s only one person that can actually improve your health, wellness and performance.
Of course you can seek advice, support and accountability but only you can take the action or change the mindset.
Only you can drink the water
Only you can get to bed on time
Only you can move your body and get active
Only you can consume the food that fuels your body and mind
Only you can decide what really matters for your future
Only you can design the plan
Only you can take the action
Only you can reflect and adapt your approach over time
Only you can communicate what you need to others
And only you can step away from your current daily schedule to make the necessary changes to balance your life in the way that brings you the best results in everything you do
And for us, it’s the last one we encourage people to focus on.
Bullet point 10.
Because it’s hard to let anything new or different into your life, or even to know what you want to let into your life, unless you create some space to breathe and think.
You have to put the phone down, switch off the laptop and leave your typical place of work.
To begin with, just for a short time. You can build on this in the future.
This is the essential first step.
But often it can feel like the most daunting one.
So daunting in fact, that many people put it off completely.
They wait for a moment when the time is right, when things will be quieter and accommodating change will be easier.
Or they’re holding out until they’re in a different space mentally. A time when they have the mindset that will give them the resolve to do what they know needs done.
We'd suggest not waiting.
The future you probably won’t be that different to the present you, particularly if you carry on with your current day to day habits.
Making the change now is the only way to create a different future you.
Taking action today is the only way to create time now that you can leverage into a more positive balance to your schedule in the future.
So what will you do today that will change your future?
Our advice is to focus on the small stuff that you can control today because that usually results in the most efficient and sustainable plan of action for the long-term.
Oh, and if you have any concerns that stepping away from the demands of daily life, don't worry.
If you have an issue on your mind to solve, changing your environment will likely bring you a quicker solution.
If someone is calling for your input, it might not do any harm if they need to wait a little. They may even come up with a better solution without your input.
And if you're still hesitating, give some thought to how your future will look if you don't step away to review and refine your approach to every element of your life regularly.
Only you can do it, so make sure you do it today.
Pause, review, plan, act.
